I would check the end-float on the shaft and swash plate bearings. If they were out of spec then new bearings would be in order. Obviously new hoses and seals.

After that it depends on what you find in the sump. If there's just dirt and bits of rubber from the perished hoses, then probably do nothing. If you find any signs of brass flakes then it would be wise to dismantle the rotating groups and inspect the slippers.
Clark, what is a slipper?

Hello Mr.94, I would like to know how you are doing with the project? Mine has the same size, only it's a 943B

I will be sure to finish up this thread as I get done with the project. I have the main components back together and i need to make some tooling to do the linkage adjustments and air neutral adjustments on the servos. Three cat dealership locations couldn’t find the tools or have someone to set this so I’m just figuring it out in my spare time. Slowly but surely!

Thank you for your feedback and I wish you perseverance and good results.
We are waiting for your report.
My engine is being renovated in the machine shop. I would also like to replace the easily accessible seals on the hydrostat, so I would also like to consult with Cmark, but unfortunately I could not contact him in a private message. :(
But I won't give up! :)
Have a nice day.

I finished this project up after having to make the tools to run the overhead myself. It pushed trees yesterday for the first time after owning it since last August

The retaining bolt fell out inside the cylinder that strokes the right pump swash plate. The piston came off inside and turned sideways so it bypassed any oil sent through it. I was able to save the cylinder and ended up about $3000 into the project before labor. A track motor would have been cheaper and faster to fix, but I picked up the machine very reasonably as a mechanics special and we have plenty of work for it to earn its keep.

Hi Mr94.
Glad you were able to fix it!
Were there any used seals or parts that you had to replace?
...I found something like this in mine...

The orings were all very hard and I replaced any seal or gasket that I opened up. I can’t say I saw any like that except the rubber seals in the little steel lines under the top cover shredded when I took them apart.
