    Detroit 60 series issues

Ok , I have a DDEC 3 that was giving fits like you described a few years ago. Now I'm not saying that your problem is not electronic but mine turned out to be a very mechanical one. Truck would start and idle and run well until you put a load to it then it would act like it was running out of...

    JCB 3CX Brake issues....

2005 model Backhoe that is losing brake oil somewhere not obvious. It was by mistake topped up with brake fluid when level was low, mistake discovered and fluid replaced with right weight oil. Now brakes are not working as in pedals have no feel and there seems to be no brakes working. When oil...

D9G or D9H - What do you recommend?

'Here' in Australia we tend to see D8's a bit dearer than a similar aged D9 due mainly to the real cost of transport if that applies. D9's (the older ones )tend to be popular on larger grazing properties where they will see out their days being "walked" from job to job. A lot of contractors...

    740A Grader Bounce on Road

Try a bit more pressure, we normally aim for 45-50psi on the bias ply tyres to try and reduce sidewall deflection that builds heat and shortens tyre life. In saying that they all bounce a little after sitting overnight etc , but generally smooth out after a few k's. Mike.

    Compare Deere 750c to 850C

If your doing a lot of ripping the angled seat is nice as you can rip and steer looking over your right shoulder without having to twist too much, means a bit when you are getting on in years and not as flexible any more. Mike.

    Compare Deere 750c to 850C

Now this is just me but I did read you want to do a little timber work with it at some stage and that means a ripper would be very handy and as Scrub mentioned a ripper will not hurt the performance at all. Personally I will not even look at a tractor that's not equipped with a ripper and it is...

Buying a d9h that's been sitting for years

Yeah reminds me when one of my brothers worked for a large mining company here in Australia doing copper from large open cuts. At the time rubber for trucks and associated machines was at a premium due to a world wide shortage of large tyres and a mining boom was ramping up here. Just by...

Buying a d9h that's been sitting for years

Just on the walking thing, on most farms here in Australia(esp in the pastoral/cropping zones) when a dozer gets "walked" it will generally be doing work on the way like raking along a timber line etc and not just blade up flat out in third. Whenever we go here there is something for the...

    Cat Grader serial number?

    Thanks all. Mike.

    Scrub Puller

Yeah I live not far from this farm , could tell you a lot about it from over the years. That stick rake on the D10 was 60 ft wide, ok on level ground but on virgin floodplain country it tended to drop timber when tractor dropped in depressions. On a big tractor no more than 40 ft is better...

    Cat Grader serial number?

Thanks for that Cmark, That serial number I quoted was off a plate on the engine block near the front, are there any other sneaky places that there may be more numbers lurking? I will work on getting a pic of engine, just a little damp here at present to get near machine. Mike.
