Well, did a little work this evening. I didn't have any power at my container shop, so I had to rely on my headlamp. The goal was to fill the engine with water, prime the fuel system and limp it over to the main shop to TIG weld the crack closed. Problem is I mounted the fuel filter assembly over the crack, primed the fuel system and found out the holes I drilled are pouring out water faster than I can fill it. So I dismantled the fuel system, plugged the holes with some sheet metal screws, re primed the fuel system and filled the block with water. Drove it half a mile and drained the block to prevent rust and give it some time to dry before I weld it.
The clatter of the tracks across an empty field at night made the whole thing worth it.
