Nah it broke the bearing holder out of the chassis in beside the transmission on the hydraulic tank side. the piece the axle cap bolts too. And whilst in there found the pinions were badly cut up, but the bull gears were good.

Wow, nice to see the great pics of the reborn 333FT!

I have been a bit busy, like Showpony, fitting a new Cummins to a 101G, and a new 12v71T and generator to the 353FT....and replacing a busted axle...pics to follow...

But my latest problem is having picked up about 100hp with the M95 injectors in the new front engine, I have stripped the generator rotor output spline (shaft and driving flange hub). I need a new flange and rotor...or a good engineer..

Broken axle....my wallet is still aching - maybe cost $15k to fix, lost $35k of work.

Here is a sight to make your testicles clench up next to your adam's apple...

Ouch! I had the same issue with a 222F rotor 12 years ago. I had a reputable machine shop clean up the rotor shaft taper and remove the old splines. they then welded up the interior of the hub and rebored it to fit the shaft properly. They then milled 2 keyslots in the shaft and hub, 5/8 inch keys IIRC. We assembled it with just a bit of extra torque to be safe, and shes still running today. Just an idea. Im not sure how that would hold up with youre HP rating, however. And currently I don't have much of an idea where to find parts. Having a captive supply kind of spoils oneself. And sorry they aren't mine to sell and nor are they for sale.

In those situations, the old saying was "that'll tighten your ring gear". All the same, the worse part of owning your own equipment, is the double whammy of the downtime plus the repair cost. Soldier on mate ! :)

I think all Wabco/LeTourneau Scraper owners in Australia/New Zealand or the Rest of the World should meet once a year for a get together at a given site somewhere in the world to chew the fat about our favorite topic Wabco Scrapers.

The get together my help keep the Wabco/LeTourneau Knowledge alive, and aswell it would help keep the spareparts become a bigger global data base

This is only an idea to see what everyone thinks, I personly would love to be able to talk about this Face to Face

Please comment on this idea YES or NO

Cheers in Wabco Leroy

WABCO enthusiasts; Well perhaps it's time we should start to talk about the Wabco get together. Questions to get comments on are; What month in 2014. And in NZ or AUS

I vote, Some where in New Zealand and April, ish 2014 Please feel free to add your thoughts and comments
Cheers Leroy

Thanks guys. It was great to meet Ray C for a day, hope home is suiting you Ray!
I like your idea Rob Z, I will give the key way idea a go, it is much easier than spline rebuilding, esp internals.

I hope it works out for you, Steve. They may want to consider more smaller keys to prevent "notch" stress on the rotor shaft. Just a thought considering your extra HP. Regards, Rob.

Hi Steve, have you tried manish for that generator shaft and hub. He would be our first call, hang loose. nick
Lee why don't you just go ahead and set a date and place, otherwise if we all keep talking about it, we'll all keep talking about it.

Wabco 333FT UK

Hi Guys
Greetings from the UK
I'm posting on behalf of my Dad, he drove 1 of 6 Wabco 333ft's in the uk. they first used by Scottish company New then sold to Fox Plant where my Dad drove them for about 10 years they also had a few 222F's and G's for 15 years, then sold the 333FT's abroad to Sweden or Norway
He just wondered if anyone else on here had dealings with wabco's in the Uk
Here are a few pictures

This is where I'm going need your help. Currently he is planning on building an 1:16th scale model of a 333Ft but we need some more detailed pictures, we have a line drawing diagram blow up to 1:16 scale but we could do with some more detail. He has gone threw the thread a few times and found some useful pictures but not exactly what he needs. I see some of you are still current operators and was wondering would you be able to take some pictures for us or even if you have some already some of the main neck pivot on the back of the cab and underneath as we are struggling to figure out how we are going to do it. its a long time since he's seen a wabco and needs to jog his memory the old git haha

I will see if he can dig out some more of his pictures of them working for you.

Any helps appreciated
Alistair

D Pull at Work

Jacks LE W D Pull.jpg A pre Wabco scraper. My uncle Jack, the very early 60's, in the southern highlands of NSW Australia. He would have been in his mid 30's then. I saw a similar machine is in the family collection on the farm 4 years ago :)

Hi Wabco owners
I'm pretty sure I spotted a few today, will stop on Friday on the return trip and ask the owner if he is willing to sell spare parts and get his contact details
