I was just wanting to know where you got the parts pictures. I have a 12 inch Altec with the ford 6cyl in it and would love to find a manual for it? Any suggestions?

Any idea how to determine the model; I’m not sure if I have a JEX or JEY (or other).

It just says whisper chipper on the chute. 12” drum, Ford V8 (390?) might not be original though.

Thanks Dave but I still don’t know which manual to choose until I figure out which specific model it is. I was hoping someone here was familiar enough with the Whisper Chipper line to help me figure that part out.

Try contact Asplundh.
I contacted Altec, the company that now owns the whisper chipper line. All they could tell me was that the JEX models were made between 1966-1974 and JEY from 1974-1974. They said they’ve completely stopped servicing old models and couldn’t give any further info.

I did realize that I was incorrect about it being a 12inch drum; it has a 16inch drum and numbers on the engine indicate it as a 1975 Ford 390 FE but still unsure if it is original engine.
