I’m looking to buy a D3 cat dozer with serial numbers 79U2127 and engine 3204 serial numbers 45V6953 this machine was made in Japan and the seller advertised a 1984 is this possible.

OM is correct, it's a 1975 year of build. Production that year ran from 79U02049 to 79U03048.
The engine number sounds about right, 45V was the 3204 engine series prefix for the D3.

I'm not sure what Hector Gemme (dozer777) is referring to with his serial numbers. His information is normally good, but as a Quebecois, his first language is French, so you have to try and interpret his English typing.

All the D3's, D3B's, 931's, 931B's, and 910 loaders were manufactured in Japan, in a Mitsubishi factory, via a Joint Venture arrangement between Caterpillar and Mitsubishi.

You will find "Mitsubishi" on many of the castings in these machines.
