Very nice Dan. Short, sweet, and to the point.

Those are some cool pictures too, did you take them yourself?
Yeah, the pics are from some recent jobs taken with the inexpensive camera that I carry in the PU. I just emailed them to the geek, easy

Did he hold true to his $150 design fee?

I'm looking at their website and their pricing tells otherwise: http://www.initial-design.net/pricing
On a simple site like that it was $300, the initial quote of $150 was for 1 page then we added the pics and contact page. Cheap to host only $71.00 a year. I own the domain name as Squiz reccomended. I wanted to use just my last name but petersonexcavating was taken so we had to add the Dan

Yeah, that's not too bad at all. I think ours is $10 a month but it's for 2GB of storage. Yours is probably a fraction of that. What about if you were to upload more pictures? Do they charge you for that? Would they allow you to do it yourself?

One thing that's nice about ours: although it's a pretty basic/simple web design, i can edit/update it whenever i want at no additional expense. I also host lots of images on the site for display in our eBay store. Then i don't have to pay extra to eBay for image hosting.

Can't tell ya about changing pics, probably need help to do it. I don't plan on changing that often, maybe once a year or so.

Dan you have a really good web site.

I like the pictures and the equipment looks to be very well maintained.

I have started my excavating business as a part-time operation. I would like it to be more full-time. I am looking at having my own web site to increase my exposure and get more business. My budget for this is small. I have seen the Superbowl ads for godaddy.com and was curious about your experience with them. They will have Google ads on your web page. Is this a good or bad thing?

I am a rookie when it comes to web site design, but I am quite comfortable with computers and pictures etc.

Any type of advertising on a business website is a bad thing. It really takes away from the professionalism of your website and badly cheapens it.

The only acceptable advertising is a small text link in the footer to the site designer/developer and a page with links to trusted people you do business with. Ideally those people should also link back to you.
