My father mixed waste oil half and half with diesel and ran it in his D8H, 966C, ** 1505 with a 3208 Cat engine and an assortment of 453 and 471 Jimmies powering sawmills, planers, etc. He did this for a few years before he died without any problems at all. He claimed it actually improved his old Cat. I watched his Massey discing and it seemed to have no loss of power. I tried it this summer in my old ** Super 90 and noticed no difference at all over straight diesel.
My father had a tank that all the waste oil went in and the water was allowed to settle out. He then filtered it through a homemade filter involving upholsterer's Styrofoam and various weaves of cloth. When I expressed my concern about particles of carbon getting into the injector pump he pointed out that the fuel filters were designed to filter out anything that would damage the pump.
Interestingly enough, burning waste oil is illegal here in BC. Maybe in all of Canada. Little details like that never bothered my father.

I have a customer who invested in some sorta super "clean " used oil so he can mix it with fuel to run in his trucks ..

Me and my injection pump man tried to tell him with no avail...All drivers complain they have to drop gears in a pull , basicilly the trucks won't pull..

IMO fuel systems have enuff problems allready ,dont add a variable that could cause trouble ...He's got about 3 grand in this cleaner system thats nothing but a White Elephant..

I have a older Ford pickup with the 6.9 diesel and it burns waste oil just fine as most any old school diesel engine will.

Try that on a tier III or IV engine with a high psi HUEI fuel system and todays emmision controls...... your asking for nothing but problems.

Thanks for all the replys , i have considered it on some of my older machines but no way on newer engines. I have had good response using ATF mixed 50-50 in one dozer, tractor and 7.3 powerstroke. Have stopped using it in the 7.3 due to a freind being stoped and received a nice $2500 fine - since no road tax was payed. But he was told that he could use it but had to fill out a pile of paperwork and pay road tax then he would be legal ??????? Just curious if motor oil and etc could be filtered and work as well as ATF, may try on small scale and see the results. Thanks

Cat burns it on the bigger haul trucks.

The Oil Renewal System (ORS) is used to optimize the oil change interval of the engine. By optimizing the oil change interval of an engine, several benefits are realized. One of the benefits of using an ORS is the increase in the availability of the machine. The amount of waste oil that must be disposed of by the customer is substantially decreased. The use of an ORS on an engine will not reduce the life of the engine.

The ORS meters engine oil that has been filtered into the fuel supply of the machine. This oil will be consumed in the engine during the normal process of combustion. The amount of oil that is metered is calculated by the engine's Electronic Control Module (ECM). This amount is based on the actual load factor or on the fuel that is consumed by the engine.

When the used engine oil from the oil pan is injected into the return fuel line, new oil from a makeup tank (if equipped) is added to the oil pan. The regular introduction of fresh engine oil into the engine allows the oil change interval to be extended. The customer utilizes trend analysis from the S·O·S Oil Analysis in order to determine when the engine oil needs to be changed.

I came across another site awhile back for diesel pickup's and they swore it worked on their newer motors also. They wouldn't mix it up 50/50 though. They all said to use one pint per gallon. I will look for it and try to post it here.
