300HP with a 13 speed in a tandem is a nice combination as long as you're not running steep grades loaded or pulling a big dozer up them all day.

Well I used to drive a 610 model with Detroit Desiel 60 seris @ 470 hp and a 10 sp direct. It was a REALLY smooth ride, pretty good all around. Just kinda ugly.

We have a 89' Autocar tri-axle with a 400 cummins and a 8 speed Eaton tranny. We have had the truck for about 10 yrs and we have it off-road quite a bit and it has been a real good truck. We are currently putting in a factory rebuilt tranny. We put in a front rear last year, and that was $6,000 just for the rear. Volvo rears are kinda pricey. We would never hesitate to buy another one.
