Using Hydraulic Rod Seal as Buffer Seal replacement

On SKF's 'rod seal' page, they stated that their hydraulic rod seal can be used as buffer seal too.

The reason is, we cannot find the correct buffer seal size, but we have a rod seal that's suitable.

Are there any side effect of doing so?
