Im looking for a larger excavator than our curent 35 sized machine. We keep renting in the 20,000 lb range size machines. Sometimes for stump digging they are a bit on the small side. We are doing land clearing but we do precision tree work. Often its in front of remodels or construction for both residential and commercial. We plan to move the machine ourselves as we already have cdls and a tandem axle road tractor. We want to be able to move a larger machine without permits. This has led us to 140 sized machines.

We looked at a takeuchi tb1140 today. It had 2300 hours on it and seemed to be in very good shape. It was a very tight machine. Basically no slop. Anything specific to watch out for on these?

Good day
I suggest making a through inspection to protect your investment, some hours spent before parting with your hard-earned money is a safe way. If you cannot make such and inspection use a recommended guy to do the work. Attached link may help.
Kind regards
