Actually oil polishing system would be a good idea for the long term storage tanks, not only for removing mechanical contamination but also for biologicals, and including at least one desiccant filter is good too, we all know that doesn’t matter how much you try to keep moisture away it is present in the oil anyway! And with hydraulic oil anti emulsification additives it’s not always apparent! When the speaker mentions new oil is too dirty for the hydraulic system it reminded me of our experience. Years ago Deere required us to get a super caddy with a digital iso cleanliness readout. When we replace a component with either a new one or reman we have to bring our iso numbers down to a certain level for Deere to warrant the parts. Back when this started we decided to have our bulk tanks tested and they all failed the iso cleanliness. We had questioned Deere and even back then they new that new oil was too dirty. That was why we now have the filtration systems we have now for cleaning the hydraulic system after a repair. Unfortunately we never installed any filtration on our bulk tanks to filter the oil upon installation.
