I was wondering how popular stone slinger trucks are becoming in other areas. It is amazing how fast and accurate the new slingers are, with a tri drive truck it can deliver 19 tonnes compared to 14 for a regular tandem dump truck.

For anyone who hasn’t seen a slinger truck this is a good example on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srDd25kfKkk

company i worked at had one, it was a tri axle mack. the thing worked nice but you have to have the right guy running it or its not time saving at all.the truck is on this page with some short videos. the vids load up a little slow so you might need to let them load completely before viewing or they'll be choppy

I haven’t seen a truck like that before! How would they clean the conveyer belting after delivering cement?

In the Seattle area we have about 25 or so stone slingers working. They are broken up between about 3 companies. I know of 2 of the truck mounted tele belt types in the area. The tele belt truck we hired a couple of years ago ran us around $250 an hour.

Dirthauler, were you placing rock or cement with that telebelt truck? I read on the website you can modify the conveyer to run in reverse to bring material out to the truck, which would be slick for digging basements in heritage buildings.

Just so we are al clear here...

A stone slinger truck is vastly different from a telebelt truck

A telebelt is more like a concrete pumper, whereas material is not delievered by the truck. Telebelts can be used to place concrete, slingers cannot.

They both can be used to place aggergrate but thats about the only similarity.

Honestly I've never seen one used to place concrete here; thats the only reason why I posted it. Out here everything is pumped.

So is the telebelts used a lot in the Seattle area? Or is still pretty much the pumps?

Still very much by hand here. A company round here recently bought a concrete pump truck, 32 m, first in this area.

Around here there is 2 I think. Recently a cement company bought one that is used to prep for poured foundation walls. Another company just bought one and am not too sure of it's paticular roll yet. Deffinatly growing as there is 2 in town, 2 more than 5 months ago.
