Hi,
I have a big Volvo loader on my stump ranch (4600B). It needs a new engine. I also need a bucket, since it only has a log grapple. I've located a complete engine and a bucket out of Michigan--but I'm located in BC, Canada, just across the border from Bonners Ferry, Idaho. (A couple of hours North of Spokane).
The stuff is pretty big--the engine is a 250 hp in line six, and the loader bucket will be a 5 yard bucket, about 130" wide. 8-10,000 lbs?
My hope is to have the load dropped off at a freight dock in Bonners and then come down and pick the stuff up myself to get it across the border into Canada.
That's a fair long haul, and a "less-than-load" shipment. I'm not familiar how this is normally done. Are there haulers who specialize in LTL loads like this? Should I be chasing a national freight company? How is shipping insurance purchased? An suggestions of freight companies to call?
Thanks,
Jon.
