ok. lifted the cab. he also had a bobcat mechanic come out and write up a quote, he did say it was the loader control hydro something. If your sitting in the cab it would be under you to the right, and a lot of lines go to it. They quoted him $1200 to fix it. that includes towing it to there place and doing the work there... so it must not be too bad? i took a look and it seamed that it was wet more at the back of the pump, around some shinny silver cylinder, and it had a "E" clip or "C" clip on the end of it? any idea what that is or what might be the actual problem with it? or better yet.... what i need to do to fix it? (oh and i drove it and loaded it, and used all the functions and everything worked great!)

thanks again!

I just finished doing that job on a friends 773, it's no fun but I'm sure you can do it if you follow the instructions on this site with full photos and description as to the procedures needed. search this -- Replacing Bobcat loader control valve seals I would not have tackled the job if I had not read and followed this link.

That looks like the seal that seals the input shaft to the final drive bearing housing. I don't know what the part number is, but it's not shown on the diagrams that NCPipeline posted, have to go to a different page for that seal.

Hi all,

Have just read through all of these posts. I've got a S130 Bobcat. I'm in the process of putting one of my front axles back together, all in place now inc chain drive sprocket back onto shaft, bearings are seated in but haven't tightened up retainer bolt onto sprocket/shaft yet. Was wanting to know is there any way you can set the preload on the bearings with all the chain drive already on or does it just so up tight on the shoulder of the shaft & have a set preload set by clearances etc. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Marcus

Welcome to HEF MBO. :drinkup

It's been a while since I've done one of these, but I don't think there's a preload adjustment on the axle bearings. As you tighten that big sprocket retainer bolt and washer on the axle that presses the sprocket on the shaft. At the point the washer bottoms out on the shaft the sprocket is pressed as far as it goes and the bearings are set. I'm not aware of any spacer shims that go between the sprocket and the bearing, and the manual doesn't mention any.

Take a 5 gal bucket with lid. Put a hole in lid opposite pour spout. Make the hole so a piece of vinyl tubing fits snug in hole. Now you stick the hose of a shop vac over pour spout of bucket, and use vinyl tubing to suck up liquid or metal fragments. All the liquid and debris goes into the suck bucket, shop vac stays nice and dry. Got the chain case nice and clean using the suck bucket. ;)

That's slick as all get out! Purciate that little piece of gold you just tossed out there!

NCPIPELINE - are you still here? I have a question about the diagram you posted march 20,2013 - I have a bobcat 743- I only found one spring in my relief valve. Are there supposed to be two?!?
