There's one model Bobcat, might be yours, that the pickup is in a tight spot directly below the drive pumps. What a PITA!
Not easy to do, requires much patience and more swear words. No reals tricks or tricks on those, very difficult to get a hold of. Can't remember if I gripped the elbow with long nose vise grips or if I simply used two long screwdrivers to pluck the elbow out of the tank. Getting the new parts back in isn't much easier.
Will say this though, since you're going to Bobcat for new pickup tube and strainer check valve to go on the end of the tube, don't forget to get a new rubber grommet that the elbow fits into. Also, be sure and pull the pickup elbow out before you make a trip to Bobcat, there's always the chance you'll damage or break the elbow and need a new one.
Once you get your parts, fit the check valve on end of hose. Lubricate hole in grommet with Petroleum Jelly and slip it on opposite end of hose, slip it about an inch onto hose. Now fit the elbow on end of hose. Lubricate the hose between grommet and elbow, and lube the outside of grommet.
Slip the hose into the hole in top of tank. Press the grommet into hole in tank, then press the elbow barb into the grommet. That's pretty much the method, but on your machine this all sounds easier than what it really is.
BTW, be sure you have identified the pickup elbow and not the return line elbow as they both fit into the top of the tank.
