Big trucks is what I know. HAZMAT is what I tow.
I like watching these B-trains on the Alaska Hwy. 50 tons of high grade gold ore. 24/7, 240 miles from the Manh Choh to Fort Knox. 60 round trips per day.

I see Black Gold Express is opening a truck shop in Tok. $54 hr and 10% 401K match. All the hrs you can handle. 3 hots and a cot.

Geez, there's an awful lot of tyres under the jigger for 50 tons.
Per compartment--the last three axles should be 44,000 as a group it's self.

Oh that's a deal with all the beans and weenies covered in american cheese. Looking up
the cost of living with inflation in alaska, most of the time it isn't such a good deal. But if
BGE throws in a few extra german dogs each day they might snag a few large ones.

54/hour sound like it will barely buy a floor sweeper.

They won’t find anyone, and if they do, - 70F temps next winter will run them off. Last winter was the last straw for a lot of folks. Lots of U-Hauls headed South this summer, keeping the trend of out-migration happening.
IIRC up North east Canada way is a mine haul railroad, fully autonomous.

Don't tempt me with a good time. If I could justify owning a surplus truck and trailer, I would. There's a guy up in Kansas doing heavy haul and has a truck and trailer for transformers, etc.
Aw heck, I can resist anything but temptation, how about you ? Never seen a luggage rack on a hearse.
When the HET goes away, a HEMTT will replace it.:p

The Black Gold Express Drivers have to dodge kids waiting for the school bus and the occasional bullet.

Operating small or large scale in 2026 is so fraught with obstacles most of the
older owners are looking to move on. With all fixed & unfixed costs plus finding
consistent labor the midnight headaches are tough the older one gets. The more
miles operated without incident the odds climb with major accident involvement.
Insurance companies dictate who will be hired and not. A major downturn in the
construction industry/economy anything related to it transportation gets fence
rowed. Flat bedders are first to park, then dry freight, bulk pneumatic is next.
The only piece of the pie to stay reasonably safe is refrigerated/frozen. People
have to have food and fuel, and fuel transport is locked up. Remember 2008?
We parked 8 to 9 consistently out of 49 total at that time. All still requiring truck/
trailer payments, things were pretty thin for awhile. Not to be negative, but what
was a good consistent haul for years or even a year can disappear overnight with
all the transport companies in same boat fighting over the same carcasses.
