Bucyrus Erie BMs
Bucyrus Erie built five models of the mechanical friction machines called BMs.
The 22, 25, 30 and 38 Bm. Serveral HUNDRED of them.
NEVER EVER buy one! Nothing is normal. Booms could have been made by Koering, P&H, Link Belt and more. Pins are odd sizes, Shoes are different, controls. Parts books basically do not exist today. The various suppliers were to spread the wealth around the country, but a support nightmare!
The biggest problem...Designed Obsolecense...NO, BE only built what was specified by the US government.
What do I mean you ask? The roller path, where the hook rollers roll to support the upper structure..........are you ready?.....are NOT flame hardened and will wear VERY quickly, unlike the civilian production machines.
That was Uncle Sam's specification to prevent flooding the market with used machines.
