Number of equipments

I am doing some research and wondering how many equipment is needed for harvesting? how many feller buncher, skidder and loader? Thanks.

Depends on the size of the job, but usually just use one of each, buncher, processor, skidder and sometimes mulcher. Use trailers with self loaders.

Depends a lot on the tree size, density of the trees and sometimes terrain that your in. Where I'm at, buncher is about 60m3 per hour, skidders 50-53m3 per hour ( average 250m skid distance ) delimbers 35m3 per hour. Most contractors here run 2 skidders per buncher and 1-2 delimbers per skidder. Delimbing is the pinch point due to slow production and high maintenance. Some are swithing over to dangle head processors, more reliable, production is better but skidded logs have to be set up with more care.

Tree length loading, about 12-15minute for 35-45 tonnes.

There's a lot of stuff to consider, machine size, operator capability, machine condition, down time

Around here, its 1 buncher, 1-2 skidders, maybe 1 delimber/processor or pull through delimber, 1 loader, 1 dozer

It depends what the contract rate of pay for the logging of the trees and processing into trees is in many places that determines what equipment will be used in many places.
