Say you wanted to haul a JLG 40H without an engine.

(1)
Would a large tilt truck be able to winch something this
heavy, 12,000 lbs or so?

I know how to reverse the hubs for free wheeling.

(2)
How would you move the steering wheels?

Thanks.

Many times machines this weight are winched and hauled. Check with the operator of the truck for the capacity of his rig.

The tow-package that JLG offered was a pretty popular option.
Check to see if your machine is equipped. There will be a steel plate attached to the tie-rod of the front axle.
The tow-bar was mounted to the side of the chassis...good luck with that still being there.

Steer should work with Auxiliary Power.

We put a 4x4 in the path of the wheel as its moving to force the steer in the right direction. It took a lot of back and forth while towing but it worked for me and my husband.
