Found this site this arvo looking for books/manuals 
I'm in northern NSW Australia, an agricultural earthmoving contractor that specialized in irrigation earthwork maintenance (channels, taildrains & headditches) for the cotton industry. Unfortunately the drought over the last 5 years has made work fairly scarse and thinned out the number contractors considerably.
Anyway nice site and plenty to read from around the globe.
