Hi, received my parts for the cylinder re-packing and am a little confused. The piston rebuild is pretty straightforward, however packing the gland is confusing me due to the old seals in the gland being unrecognizable and no instructions coming with my new parts. By the way, I am working on a Case 580b loader lift cylinder. In the middle of the gland, there is a recessed groove where the new seal goes; however, I have a white colored seal that looks like a large washer and a black seal that is thicker and has a groove on one side of it. I don't think both seals will fit inside of the gland, but maybe they do, I don't know! Some You tube videos show a few people not using the white thinner seal, and some using both! I hope someone on here can help me out so I can do this the right way. BTW, the bolt that was on the end of the rod came loose without very much effort; when I go back together with it, should I use a thread blocker and tighten the bolt as tight as I can with a break over bar and a cheater pipe? Thanks so much to all of you!
