Thanks for sharing that. That’s one in a million. Incredible Mack Truck. Way cool!
A funny part about having the blues shined on me. I sat in the tow truck wondering while my
paper work was being checked. I never turn the welfare radio on, so I did. The trucks heading
southeast opposite side were all wound up about WSP pulling me over. All talking smack about
the WSP, I just sat there grinning never responded. She made the comment about pulling over
a nice clean set of two, and the fact it doesn't happen very much. Plus a nice comment about
everything was in order.

Story I've heard about how the Brute came about was there was a log trucker by the name of Gene Brock around here that put a Guiberson radial diesel in a truck. He started with a KW and had to hang the engine over the front axle to clear the lower cylinders so the crank could line up with the rest of the drivetrain. Then moved the cab forward almost over the axle and built a hood to cover everything. He ran it for a while and eventually put a Cummins in after having a wild ride when the radial ran away. I've seen a picture of it, it was an interesting example of postwar experimenting/logger engineering. Supposedly KW noticed it and designed the Brute. That's the way I heard it, anyway.

Could have or could not have, KW had a lot of ideas brewing in those years.
But I wonder what Brock used for starting the Guiberson, Coffman cartridge starter.
There wouldn't have been much advantage to that radial, horsepower wasn't all that
high.
