My friend just purchased an older John Deere 410 Loader Backhoe. We are trying to figure out the year for ordering parts. He was able to get some information off the identification tag located on the right front frame. This is what he found 410D 385640T. This is an older machine say 70's to early 80's so the D is confusing. Any help would be appreciated.

In this case the "D" might stand for the assembly plant, Dubuque or Davenport?

The serial number is all that is needed for parts ordering. The year is never listed. Some of the serial number breaks aren't real clear, so if in doubt, compare it to the parts you took apart.

This is the tag from my 85 410B.

At the end of the second line is stamped 85.20190805_193337.jpg

Like Delmer said, John Deere does not use model years. Your machine is a straight 410, not a 410D. All you need for parts is the model and serial number.
