During the process of making repairs I found a broken pinion shaft and I am sure there is probably a splattered bevel pinion as well. Just curious if these can be replaced by removing the internal differential housing. If not, what is the procedure?

Yes the differential can be removed and disassembled. Axles will have to be removed first. You should acquire the Tech manual TM1037.

I have a 410 service manual. So if one bevel pinion is sheared off and the machine is still moving forward and reverse I basically have a one wheel drive...
