Hi. New to this site. Found it very informative however with regard to issues similiar to mine, no one seems to have actually posted a positive outcome.
Lots of effort & testing results on similiar models but no definative fix declared?
My issue with JD 410 as follows,
Machine sits idle for 2 wk periods.
Initially experienced an intermittent lag in engagement of forward by torque convertor.
This stopped when hot. Completed a 4 hr job & parked up for 2 wks.
Upon starting up again there was no forward gears however reverse is fine.
If allowed to idle while moving convertor lever between forward & reverse the machine will eventually enagage forward enough to move machine in low 1st/2nd.
The process has to be repeated if neutral is selected. Have only done this to relocate machine not work it.
The torque convertor lever doesnt seem to select & lock in forward as strongly as it does for reverse. Its early days yet & have only been researching online. Have not done any pressure testing & dont really have the facilities to split machine.
Would dearly like to hear from someone who has clearly solved this issue with identified method. There are plenty of posts from those who have split the machine several times & still didnt have a win! I dont want to be "that guy"
All helpful replies appreciated especially from anyone who succeeded in solving this issue. Thankyou.

First need to know what model 410 a or j new old, i own 310 and 410 mine are older machines with reversers, on older machines usually means linkages are not adjusted right are front clutch pack is starting to go bad.

Plate on right side of machine indicates a model 410D. Any further ID info I should be looking for?
I suspect your right regards the clutch pack, however so many others on forums seem to have rebuilt that and then found the problem still existed.

IMG_1123.JPG Let's help identify your model. If you have a clutch pedal you don't have a 410D although the D is showing on your plate. The 410 D built in the 90s has a torque converter. The those of the 70s and 80s had dry clutches and a clutch pedal. I suspect your looks like one in the first two photos. These are of the 310 model but look just like the 410s. The older model need to be split to repair drive components but the newer ones have a frame and the parts can be removed separately more like a truck.

20171114_111623.jpg Machine most resembles first image of 310 with exhaust through bonnet.
Definately not a 90"s model. More like a "from the ark" model.
Took photos of plates/numbers to view better, details as follows:
On frame behind front wheel right side-
410D 384408T
On engine block centre right side-
4219DT 03 597748T
Yes it has a clutch.
Also has a sliding hoe & twin stick controls.
A definitive year ID should at least allow me to source the correct tech manual & parts catalogue for a start.
