How much fluid would an s175 pump at idle?
Could a guy drain the tank, unhook the return line and extend it into a barrel, cap the port on the tank, fill the tank, start the engine and drive ahead and shutdown?
Or would the reservoir empty in seconds?

Where is the majority of the oil not in the reservoir? In the lift and tilt or hydrostat?

Remove as much of the old fluid as possible without wasting new and just draining and filling 27 times.
I don't know what is in there and want to avoid cross contamination as much as possible.
Going to be refilling with AW32

i would drain the tank refill and change the hyd filter.
you'll get most of the old oil out.

I'm not sure about the s175, but Most of the machines I've worked on have a drain hose located under the hyd reservoir, similar to the engine oil drain hose with plug. There should be a window you can take out inbetween the wheels to get access to the drain.

Remember, 90% of contamination is introduced from doing maintenance to the hydraulic unit. 8% is built in and the last 2 is generated from parts wearing down.

Always check u r filters....... yes plural.... :)

I've done it the hillbilly way, which is attaching a cut hydraulic hose to the auxiliary hookup start the machine and pump the reservoir dry from the cab. Usually it was time to stop when the pump started howling. Oh how I've learned different now.

The 743 we had at the quarry was an odd one. Not only did the hyd. tank not have a drain plug or hose it did not even have a return line from the system! Only tow ways to change oil. 1 Disconnect the suction hose and have a mess all over the place. 2 Disconnect a hose on the bucket and use the pump to pump it out. Just need to kill engine as soon as the first sign of air in the oil to protect the pumps.

Just hook up a small Kleenoil KU-06 filter Housing to your Machine and don't bother changing the oil as it will be cleaned down to 1 Micron which is many times cleaner than new. Simon
