Star Fortress of the World
IMG_5361.jpeg
The purpose of a star fortress, or bastion fort, is to provide a strong defensive structure against attacks, particularly from cannon fire, by using a design that eliminates blind spots and allows for overlapping fields of fire. These fortifications were developed to withstand the advancements in artillery during the early modern period.

Watch a landslide happen at 50 cm per hour

This is a photo of a landslide. But it's not a landslide that happened, it's a landslide in progress. Very, very slow progress. At Snake River Canyon, Wyoming.

Interesting how the 1905 pattened invention of J.P. Harrah’s Auotimatic Combination Tool; the Jackall Jack was morphed by Hercules for their 1906 patterned Logging Jacks.

When I was a kid C.1960 some had, I wanted a HANDYMAN jack. Looked much like this. I now own one & a couple modern knock offs. A great tool for off road use in the woods. It'd lift, or use it as a pulling tool with chains. I have another modified as a chain tightener for skidder tire chains.
