This 9 minute video features cameras mounted in the cab, under the main chassis, on the block and at the point of delivery.

The Chelsea Street Bridge is a $125-million vertical lift bridge with a 450-foot span and a 175-foot clear height at full lift.

On December 13th, 2010 two 18 foot diameter sheaves arrived in a two part transport by rail and barge from Florida.
Unloaded in a horizontal position they were tripped vertical via Hallamore's Demag CC2800 and Demag 600-ton Mobile Crane into a holding cradle for the one-of-a-kind 16 ton bearings to be installed.

On December 16th, under cover of night, the first sheave weighing in at 250,000 pounds was lifted into place 22 stories up by the CC2800 Lattice Boom Crawler Crane with Luffer. The highest point to the tip of the luffer is 330 feet, just 20 feet below FAA restrictions.

On December 18th the second sheave, weighing in at 265,000 pounds was lifted and placed on a crisp sunny morning. The windspeed at the tip of the luffer was a speedy 2.3mph....

Special thanks to JF White, Hallamore Crane, Lydon Millwrights, MassDOT, The City of Boston and Timken Bearings.
