Have the heater plates been cleaned/degreased and are they getting the right temp? If so then you may not be letting the heater set long enough in the melt phase. are you making a bead while heating?

where did you get it? somebody forgot it in the bush? fell off the back of a truck on the ol' 391?

not enough heat, also looks like the pipe could be cleaner, especially the section on the right.

I dont think the pipe being clean is an issue in this situation. As long as the pipe has been properly faced, the rest of the pipe is not an issue. Now if this was an electrofusion coupling, then the pipe being dirty would be an issue.

Ronsii --- the heat pad is not the greatest, we used a temp gun and it only get to 410f and you need 425f plus to do fusing. i have attached pictures of the heat pad.

928G Boy --- no the machine did not fall off on the so-called road 391 to the great white north. i think it fell from a helicopter. as for clean pipe we did test runs with puffied pipe too, same results.

Turbo21835 --- the clean pipe should not be a problem inside the pipe and we got the same results.

today i used the heat pad from the small machine and got good results and of course the salesman who sent the machine has a day off. oh well nice day to go fishing, lol.

pipe fusing

yes as others have stated ,lack of heat / heat soak time ,which results in the bead not rolling a will lead to defective joints

thermostat on the plate need adjusting maybe :bash must be difficult enough keeping the heat up in that cold place you live in :D

this is what we use at the moment a very nice bit of kit

cheers graham

d4c24a -- wow that sure is nice set up, wish it was here.

928G Boy -- parted ways with mid-north about a year ago. been on my own making good coin and enjoying it. i'm helping strilkiwski with this pipe job at the reserve. sure is nice relaxing down by the lake and taking our time compared to in town up on the tailings eating dust all day, lol.
