Funny repair job on a 966 drop box case - A for effort

We got this case in from a local customer of ours. Apparently after multiple attempts at welding and lots of bondo they still couldn't get it to stop leaking.

I hope everyone gets as much amusement out of this as we did... as well as an opportunity to see some of our tax dollars at work! :usa

Well, it may be ugly, but it also got someone by untill they could fix it right.

Maybe...that's the sign from the sign post that the operator ran over and busted the bottom of the case. LoL, might as well patch the hole in the case...with the sign! :lmao

Well, it may be ugly, but it also got someone by untill they could fix it right.

Unfortunately, they resorted to the plate after they had attempted to fix it multiple times using several different methods. The initial damage was a small crack from hitting a rock, but failed welding attempts caused the cracks to spread. They ended up taking a case from our stock because they never could completely stop the leak. The sad part is, if they would have gotten an experienced cast iron person in the first place they could have had it fixed it in the machine in a few hours and wouldn't have had so much down time and wouldn't have had to pull the trans. :beatsme

815,s basically the same are renowned for holeing the case on the output uni on top and i have seen some very good cast iron repairs to fix them, important to keep the rear trunnions greased.
