A bit off topic but i give it a try, so many guys here with tons of knowledge. On my way to Europe from the old Vancouver Intnl. airport in 1968 my plane, a DC8 was delayed due to engine failure, they announced that a new engine was under way. After a while i spotted the plane, another DC8 with a spare engine under its wing. My question is; was this a usual practice to fly in spare engines, ive always wondered?
Another question while im at it; flying from the same airport towards Port Hardy with a twinpowered turboprop plane, one engine stopped and we had to return back and landed safely, what type of aicraft could that be?
I attach a couple pics. thanks Sigurd
