Dyna generator model CSA15PD won't generate power

This is a 20 kw on 3 phase or on single phase 15 KW. Runs good but doesn't produce power. I have about 24 volts chargingb the field but no output at all. Does anyone have a manual on these or could it be stuck brushes? Any other ideas?

Trying to figure out what model this is. Your name and model in Google returns nothing. Describe the generator in more detail so we can tell what it is. Or pictures of the data plates.

Did you test before main breaker where it comes out of generator? Some have a safety switch on the door that cuts power to lugs and plugs. I have basic test procedures I can send you in the morning. If you take pictures of controls and behind control panel and the generator I can help a little better too

OK, so it is some antique. The A-C engine says it all, and how was that filter changed in 2014 when it looks like it was made around 1974, or before?

Anyway....

You say 24 volts DC on the field input but no output? Where is it getting the power to make the 24 volts then?

A picture of the voltage regulator and maybe draw a schematic of the wiring as best you can and upload that as well.

Not related to getting it working, but is that 50 hz or 60 on that nameplate?
If it's 50, can you just increase RPM to get 60? There are tons of military surplus 50 hz generators around, and I wonder if you could just rev them up?

It's 60 hz. Pics attatched I would guess age is around 1980ish

Don't know the history, but Winco has/had Dyna Gen. Here's some documentation for the CSA12PD which shouldn't be far off from your machine, and might help. Worst case reach out to Winco and see what else they might have on it.

That first data plate shows your Exc Volts, so your excitation is low. Just need to figure what feeds it on that machine. Bad rectifier bridge?

The only wires I tested was the two that feed the amp gauge which would be the 2 wires for single phase 220. Voltage is zero same as the field voltage I believe but will double check

Follow wires out of generator and test them at there first connection to verify theres no power. If theres no power turn generator off and test exciter stator
Continuity, then main stator windings, then diods and rectifier assembly. A basic 3 phase diagnostic test can be found online for resistance readings and basic tests to verify generator is good or bad. To properly test windings you need special tools. With a good meter you can verify a major problem. Everything can test good with a meter and still not work.

Pics of where field breaker wires go. It connects to terminal E1 and the backside of the ac volt gauge.

Disconnect wires from generator test continuity between each of the three legs and continuity of each leg to ground. Disconnect excite wires and test continuity between those two wires and to ground. If that all tests good you'll have to test the voltage regulator next. I have a voltage regulator for sale not sure if it will work with your set up. It's a mx321
