Looks like it has been converted to be top loaded by an excavator or some type of conveyor system, the elevator has been removed so it cant load itself. Cheers RDG.

The 633 had a hinged floor and dumped out the bottom behind the cutting edge so there is no need for an apron since RDG is correct; the machine has been converted to top a loaded haul unit. You can even see the spill plates they put over the rear tires. I saw a very similar conversion done to some old 633's here in Alaska. They overloaded the machines so badly they broke the draft arms in half.

It is a Cat 633D - just missing the elevator gear.
Pity Cat stopped making them. Drove one in Australia for a while.
What a beast

633's didn't need to be overloaded to break draft arms. Out of the ones I worked around, 9 out of 10 had at least one draft arm that had been broken. Most had broken both.

633D and 639 have a swinging floor which has wings up the side with the pivot points on each side on the bowl, its hard to explain without a picture, the 633E has the same setup as an earlier machine (B or s C?) which has a sliding floor on rollers which doesnt last as well as the D's (not as strong) and gives you more trouble with the rollers if they dont get greased
