THAT looks nasty:notworthy

Q1: did you guys anticipate that bird's nest at bid? Did the owner/engineer? If unforseen on plans, how do you typically deal with this situation? Time +materials ? Extra days on the critical path?

Q2: Looks like a tough area to get shoring in. What was your method of excavation protection?

A1: Some time was reflected in our bid, in areas like this we will call in locates before bid if there is any concern. Engineers/ Owners just say these situations are "incidental" to construction. Took approximately 6 additional hrs of crew time from what was anticipated.

A2: We used hydraulic shoring to get in between the utilities then a trench box for the remainder (8' X 24) we were digging with a 450 Deere and a 420 Cat around the lines with a hydro vac assisting.

Thanks for the inquiry
