Def is basically aqua ammonia or liquid fertilizer. A very strong base to the point where it is caustic. It gets imbedded into the pores of the metal and will not come out.

Yup , It works best in the ground for growing crops . Not around the engine compartment .:confused::)

DEF is 32% urea and deionized water. I still get a laugh out of the guy on a farming board that thought it was 32% Nitrogen urea and that we would all save a bunch of money on fertilizer if we used DEF instead.

Its a shame all this could be prevented, like by having the DEF nozzle a square shape, too big to stick into the diesel tank. Prolly would be some idjits would use a funnel to put it in the wrong tank, anyway...

Update-it ended up costing the person I mentioned at the start of this thread $13,800 to replace the fuel system on his DD15.
