I have a bunch of 2011 Mack GU713 dump trucks. How easy is it to change or clean the DEF/DPF filter, the trucks have the MP7 engine.

My understanding is the dpf needs to be "baked" to get clean. In California the ash is now hazardous waste and has to be dealt with by a qualified company. The filter it's self is expensive and can be cleaned cheaper than a replacement. But then again this is in California a lot of loose screws here! haha

The filters get baked in a kiln and it's an over night process by the time it cools. Only the larger places clean them around me and you have to get your appointment a few weeks ahead to get it done. A new filter is about 3 times the cost of cleaning them.

the city I live in has a 2011 mack garbage truck that has just ran out of warranty they spent $11000  at the mack dealer getting the DPF replaced dealer told them it was junk couldn't be cleaned had to be replaced. city council wouldn't let them to a DPF delete either!! the stop & go of garbage truck dealer says the new DPF wont hold up either... no one has a good answer to this problem as of yet

We have a DPF cleaner at work that bakes the soot off. I think it takes a couple hours from start to finish. A reman DPF is around $4000 iirc
