According to what I can see the original engine for a 7MB-prefix D7G is a 3306 of 10Z prefix.
However here's the kicker. There are over 100 different arrangements of 3306 machine engine alone, and that's not counting industrial and genset applications.
If you have a specific 10Z engine in mind to go into the tractor post the Serial Number here, also post the Serial Number of the engine that's in it now.

D7G ser # is 7MB02959. original engine ser # is 1TF03652. I am proposing to fit serial # 10Z10185 cat 3306. What changes do i need to make for it to go straight in ? and at the 200hp setting ?

Interesting.

(As you can see Nige,) SIS shows 7MB2959 as a D7G 1997 build, but my old skool serial number index shows 1984 build with a 44V engine. What little information there is gives us a transmission serial number of 7KA7650, but the only option for this tranny in a 7MB is for a series 2 5000-up serial number.

1TF comes up as a 3306 vehicular engine from 1987 and both tractor and engine were made in Indonesia.

7MB should be similar a 65V or 92V, so I'm going to take a stab at 4N4506 being the correct engine arr for this machine, and say that the 1TF isn't the correct engine.

CM, if you check out on SIS for 7MB1-5000 there is almost no information at all. Interesting though is that if you simply put 7MB into SIS and click on product structure you are faced with 3 options; 7MB1-Up, 7MB5000-Up, and a 3rd one that is a cross-reference listing of engine arrangements from "PTNR" to Mossville/Decatur-built engine product (I assume PTNR refers to an Indonesia build) for 1TF to 10Z prefix engines for a D7G. The problem is that in the list for D7G the engine Serial Numbers jump straight from 1TF3639 to 1TF3663, no 3652 listed.

Thanks Nige and Cmark, try engine serial #1TF06352.....there is a possibility that it is not the original engine. ARR # is 1W0543......however my problem is I have these two[2] replacement engines [7JB@ 300hp or the 10Z @170hp] ...........what things do i need to do to them to slot them in @ the 200hp setting.......application of tractor is general logging work

thanks Nige, yes, engine arrangement # is 1W0543 on the plate......what do i need to do to 170hp[10Z] and the 300hp [7JB] to make them work in this tractor ?

Your 2 possible replacements are no problem but I'm having trouble tracking down the details of the original engine S/N 1TF03652. Is there an Engine Arrangement Part Number listed on the Serial Number plate ..?

It looks like 10Z10185 is also a 1W0543 arr from a D7G, so if your original engine is arr#1W0543, the 10Z should drop straight in.

Have you seen a plate on either engine that makes you think they are different horsepowers? I can only see 3 test specs for that arr# and they are all around the 200hp mark.

Have you looked in the cab for the original serial # plate riveted in there? It may be a bit battered, but if you can read it it will tell you the serial and arr # of the engine the machine was originallly shipped with.

Cmark, will a 7JB04250 arr 6C2231 drop straight in to original engine arr # 1W0543, horsepowers aside

At first glance, no. This list shows what has to be changed. It looks a lot, but sometimes the difference between say the front gear groups for example may only be a couple of upgraded bolts. If you were serious about using this particular engine, you would have to sit down with the two parts books and go through the listed groups and see what the differences were.

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
Confirming what CM has posted .................

Of the 2 possible options for replacement the 10Z engine is by far the easier to install.

Your 10Z10175 engine was originally installed in a D7G Series II Serial Number 65V05844. The Arrangement of 10Z10175 is 1W0543, exactly the same as the Arrangement of your existing engine 1TF06352. Therefore by the book 10Z10175 should drop straight in with no need for physical modification, but without being able to compare the 2 engines side by side it's difficult to confirm. However 1W0543 engine arrangement has 3 possible Test Specs, the one you want for your D7 is 0T4784. This produces 217 Nominal BHP @ 2000 RPM with 675ft.lb of torque at 1500 RPM. A good fuel injection shop is what you now need to set up the governor and fuel pump, or at least to check that they have not been "Adjusted" from the standard setting. If you want to PM me with an e-mail address I can send you all the details of governor settings, fuel pump, etc.
