I just took some pics around the construction jobsite in Shanghai (and this is one of my hobbies), Shanghai is the economic center and most modern city in China, lots of newly construction and small maintainance projects around here.

Thanks for the pics Hitch. The architecture in Shanghai is very unique. I haven't been to Shanghai but I have been to Beijing, Guangzhou (for the Canton Fair) and HK. Has the construction in Shanghai slowed down or has the city not been affected by the world wide recession?

What kind of attachment is on that Cat? Soil mixer?:beatsme

Dirty equipment

I have always noticed that the equipment in japan,china,Korea and a few other country's is always a mess. dirty,dented scratched, the general appearance of the equipment is always very "used" looking. Just wondering if any body else has noticed this

That I must agree with. Its wierd isn't it? Equipment doesn't look to beaten up and run down here though, despite being a developing country... Then again, some equipment in America doesn't always look so fantastic...

The construction in Shanghai as well as whole China didn't slow down at all, the government stimulation package took effect to a certian extent and boost the infrastructure of the whole country. (But the recession made many factories that rely on export shut down or hold production).

The attachment you mentioned is a hammer lied beside a bucket.

The general pay scale of a 20 ton excavator operator in Shanghai is 3~4K RMB( 440~600 USD) monthly + extra hour pay (if exceed 8 hour a day), the payment level are different from region to region here.

Exactly, agree with you. The machine pics from HEF are always impress me with the clean cab, intact body, fresh paint etc.

I think the main reason might be many operators' skill and habit here are not in the right way, and they don't give the machine proper care. In China, the majority of excavator operators are very young( borned after 1985), they are not skilled and haven't formed good habit, they need to improve in a long run.
Do you guys have good instruction meterial or advice? I'd like to share with the operators here.
