most of the propane carbs had a mixer adjustment right by the propane hose to the carburetor. Fits a 1/2" wrench, has a scale looking thing to it. Maybe someone shut it down too much? Try opening that up. If that's not it, the filter in the lock valve might be real dirty or the evaporator might be full of wax. The fact that it starts though makes me think it's set crazy lean.

That sounds like the symptom of over fueling. Trace the line from the propane tank to the vaporizer. There is a 1/8" pipe plug somewhere on the vaporizer. You can install a gauge there. 2to3 psi is all you should have anymore and you are over fueling. Good luck.

The adjustment on the mixer/ carb is a rich lean adjustment . It may help if your vaporizer isn't allowing to much pressure to the mixer. If that's the case then you will have to rebuild or replace the vaporizer.
