could be torque convertersonetimes while pushing in first gear I will hear and feel a vibration and tracks may stall briefly.. any ideas what this may be ? I'm a newbie so any help would be appreciated
I sure hope not I just had the transmission rebuilt and they Said the torque converter looked good . it happens when I'm pushing and lugs down and will vibrate and then the tracks will stop moving .until I pull bucket up to lesson the load . are the tracks supposed to stop when put under pressure or should they always spin ?could be torque converter
check the biscuts on the drive coulping[/QUOTE
And while you're checking/replacing all the above, check the alignment of the drive coupling
is there some kinda adjustment for the drive coupling I'm not sure how to tell if it's out of alignment? And while you're checking/replacing all the above, check the alignment of the drive coupling
I'm assuming that the vibration started soon after the transmission was re-installed.?we replaced the biscuits when the transmission was rebuilt .that was only 200 hours ago
Yes. The alignment of the drive coupling is adjusted by adding or removing metal shims under the engine mounts. Before installing the new biscuits the two flanges of the coupling should be checked for running true to one another using a dial indicator.is there some kinda adjustment for the drive coupling I'm not sure how to tell if it's out of alignment?
thank you for the info. how do I tell if it's not aligned correctly?I think this should be all you need. The shims/washers for adjusting the position of the engine in order to align the two flanges of the coupling are #3 & #6 shown on Page 7. Don't take too much notice of the listed quantities, it's more a case of "use as required" to achieve an alignment within the specified tolerance.
It should spin the tracks. Make sure your TC gauge is working and watch the temp.I sure hope not I just had the transmission rebuilt and they Said the torque converter looked good . it happens when I'm pushing and lugs down and will vibrate and then the tracks will stop moving .until I pull bucket up to lesson the load . are the tracks supposed to stop when put under pressure or should they always spin ?
well I'm actually having issues with the tc gauge .they put a new cat tc gauge in when the trans was rebuilt .less then 100 hours on the new gauge and the face started turning grey and eventually turned completely grey . also the face of the gauge looked like it was sucking in almost like it was melting ..I took the gauge back to cat and they gave me a new one .I installed this one myself this time and within 80 hours it has done the same thing ..any idea what would cause this ?It should spin the tracks. thank youThe procedure for checking the alignment is included in pages 4/5 the document.
any ideas on where I can get the dialThe procedure for checking the alignment is included in pages 4/5 the document.
