We have a Cat V80F forklift in the shop that behaves strangely when the fuel gets low.

When the fuel drops below about 1/4 of a tank, it starts to sputter some and as it drops lower it runs worse.

Does this lift have some sort of screen in the tank or is the pump going bad?

Can't quite wrap my head around it.

Thanks in advance.

IF the fuel comes out of the TOP of the tank.?? that means it has to go up "a tube"..
The tubes get cracks & holes in them.. its not uncommon at all..
Just get a wrench & pull the "pick up tube" out.. HOPEFULLY its not one of the welded in kind.??
Good luck & heres to hope'n its something simple..

You might pull the top off the tank and drain the fuel ,clean the tank out. For some reason forklift fuel tanks seen to collect "floaters" causing fuel starvation when levels get on the bottom half.
Does your machine have the primary screen before the lift pump?
Good luck
