So brand new second hand Cat 312E working away and check engine/ engine fault came up on dash, so the question, is there a way to get the code with a sequence of buttons? Or computer only operation?
According to the Operation Manual (which ought to be in the pocket behind the seat if it's a new machine) the solution is to call the dealer.
You can get the Diagnostic Code that generated the warning from the keypad. The procedure is pretty long & complex and makes no sense unless you can see the illustrations that go with it. If you want a copy send me a PM with the machine Serial Number and your email address.
Apart from that if it's a new machine it should be under warranty so surely the dealer visit would be at no cost to the customer...?
