The last thread I posted I received very helpful information from members so I thought I'd throw this out to you all to see what experiences you've had. I'm looking to purchase a new Cat 289D3 and I would like to get feedback from operators/ mechanics who have experience working with this machine.
- What problems have you had?
- Is there any issues that would prevent you from purchasing another 289D3?
- What do you like about the machine?

For the the record your "other thread" had responses from 2 of our best Cat mechanics so I would call that a success. :)

Can't speak for the D3 series machines but we have a 2016 and 2019 279D's that have been really good machines. The 289 is the same machine with different arms.

Engines are Kubota painted Cat yellow and have been bullet proof so far. The only issues we've had is alternators (replaced on each machine), one hydraulic quick tach cylinder and bucket bushings. The bushings were due to wear at 2K hours.

Great machines IMO. Don't know much about the 299's other than there are a lot of threads on the board about a host of issues. I would stay away from them.

Agree everyone will have their own opinions, and C's were never pleasant to work on.

I'd happily sacrifice adblue for 10 less horsepower and go the 289D3.
