I have a Case Forklift that I am working on.
I think that this might be basically a backhoe tractor with a forklift attached at the end with the big tires.
There is a serial number sticker on the tractor part that says 580B CK. Serial #8774186.
There is another serial number sticker on the forklift part that says 584. Serial #5311241.
The local dealer says that having two stickers on one machine is not a normal situation and this must be a backhoe tractor that somebody attached the forklift part to. It all looks factory to me. There doesn’t seem to be any plates or paint areas that look like it has been hacked together. There is faded paint on the side of the tractor part that looks like it might have been 584.
If the temperature is below ~50F, this machine will not move until it has warmed up for 10 to 20 minutes. The dealer mechanic says that it might be the transmission filter needs to be changed. The guy at the parts counter showed me a filter that might be correct but without knowing if the tractor is correct he wasn’t sure. I didn't have serial numbers with me. I don’t know if he was showing me a filter that would go in the forklift or in a tractor. They might be the same. ??
I can’t see where the filter is supposed to go. The dealer mechanic said that he thought there should be a cover on the bottom or the side that should come off to get to where the filter is/goes. I can’t see anything that looks like a filter location. The only things that look like they might come apart are fittings on the top of the housings. Where is the filter?
I don’t know what fluid is supposed to be in the shuttle transmission. Looking at the fluid on the dipstick that unscrews from between my feet, (ATTACHED PICTURE) it looks thick like 90 weight. The parts counter guy tried to look up fluid and thought that it should be 80/140. The mechanic thought it was supposed to be HyTran. What KIND of oil and how much?
