I have an Case 850D Dozer. It’s been a great little rig but the tracks are stretched out to max. Sprockets are worn but pins and pads are in great shape. Can a link or two & same with pads be removed to compress cylinder to get me back some adjustment? Thinking about replacing sprockets but I’ve been told then the pins will climb over a new sprocket. Is this correct? This rig is just for my own use and only sees about 2-300 hours use per year.

You can do that but you will wear your new sprocket out sooner. But it will get you by for awhile.
