Did a forum search on this, found the post about a rental machine that was smoking while chipping.
My Vermeer BC1000XL with 1600hrs has a white cloud around the machine for several min, after a cold start.
This happens on the first job of the day. For the remainder of the day, with numerous stop start cycles, there is no smoke.
The machine chips as it should, engine oil and coolant are not consumed, fuel filter was replaced.
This is a 2008 vintage machine with a Cummins/Komatsu Japanese turbo diesel engine.
Google searched this and found info about a warranty issue with Vermeer and this engine, but there were no specifics.
If there is a fix I would like to make it happen. Vermeer's standard answer is "bring it in".
