hello all,
i havent been posting alot this last month.
my wife has been in the hospital. she is slowly recovering and will be moving from hospital to a nursing facility tommorow. at least the nursing facility is closer to home. it wont be such a long drive.
anyway i took a day off last week to be with her. afternoon rolled in ,she got a big shot of pain killers and went to sleep. i decided i would go home and take a nap. i started driving out to our place on what used to be a narrow 2 lane cow trail. i was amazed at all the construction. i just happened to have my camera w/ me with fresh batteries. i hope you enjoy our rare afternoon off.
ya might recognize that skip loader in the background. that blade looked brand new.

Nice pictures...sorry to hear about your wife. I have a question....I noticed on the rubber tire roller there is no ROP. Up here any roller weighing 3 ton (2740 kgs) and over has to be equipped with roll over protection and a seat belt. Is there a requirement for this in your area?

I was wondering about the single trailer belly dumps. Why do they use these over doubles? Im assuming because of weight or length restrictions? I always thought CA and AZ had very similar restrictions.

Pretty expensive to run a truck and trailer and only carry 20 ton of material a truck and transfer is good for 35 ton. You can put 15 ton on the truck and 25 ton on the transfer trailer.

Now guys are running tridrive dump trucks they are good for 20 plus ton on a straight truck being they have 69,000lbs with the three drive axles.

Maximum gross weight here is 140,000lbs a tandem axle dump with a 4 axle transfer trailer can almost gross that.

lets see where should i start?
rops..true not required yet! most newer rollers do have rops. i say yet because somewhere in the south (i believe) operator was killed ,rollover no rops.

ah next we shall address the belly dumps? singles or doubles? boy if i had a nickel for every time this arguement came up over some beers i would be rich. most of my friends are either operators or truck drivers. so just add alcohol and you have a whole bunch of knoitallassholes!!:yup otto trucking runs both types. i dont know if this could be a factor but i seem to see abc in the singles and sand in doubles??? at least back when i was at the gravel pit

anyway shall i continue w/ pics of the rest of the afternoon??

i thought you might say that.........

Wow, no kidding! I don't think I've ever seen an operation run more than 4-5 scrapers at the most on one site.

My Dad told me he was on a big job once with a lot of iron and this inventor type shows up with his remote control to run 4 scrapers at the same time.He was doing just fine for a couple days until the union found out.His invention was never heard of again.:spaz
