I have a 953 track loader I purchased about a year ago. I replaced the head on it and have finally found the time to get it back together, it seems to run and track great but it whines pretty loud at idle until you put in in forward or reverse, at that point the noise goes away instantly, I have checked the fluid and it appears to look really clean but with it shut off it’s about 2” above the full mark. I will start it tomorrow and see if the level is down where it should be, but what would be my next step?
Any help would be appreciated!

If this is a 953a model a few things (1) make sure the center brake pedal is up the whole way (2) the brake lever on top of valve has a hole in it part way down there is a treaded boss on end cap a 0s1617 bolt must tread in when brake pedal is up and cab is down (3) These machines are to be run at high idle. If it is not at high idle it goes into underspeed over ride That pulls the underspeed valve up to allow the machine move at low engine speed. But when it is in override it will not back the pumps out and with a enough load it will stall the engine.
