624KR Loader Charge Air Temp High

We think it may be the heat exchanger but I’m not sure how to tell for sure if that is the issue. I am seeing if anyone has any experience with this issue. Thank you for any help.

The heat exchanger (aftercooler) would be the last thing I'd suspect to be the culprit TBH. It's a fairly simple thing - you blow hot air from the turbo through the inside of it and cooler air from the fan over the outside of it. What could go wrong..?
Are you sure the charge air temperature sensor is reading correctly..?
Have you checked the condition of the radiator/aftercooler to ensure you don't have material accumulated between the two elements (or more elements if the hydraulic oil cooler and the A/C evaporator are built into the same package)..? This sort of situation where material gets into the gaps between the various elements is very common on all excavators with a "multiple stacked" cooling package. Usually the only way to clean the stack properly is to disassemble it so that you can get the material from in between each element.

We have looked at the different cooling packs which are in more of box than stacked on top of each other. Thank you for the help.

You have to look pretty closely to see if the airflow is blocked between the various radiators. Like TAKE THEM APART. Or at least look through them with light on the other side and confirm that there's no dirt and debris built up anywhere. The stuff on the surface tends to fall off, or get noticed and blown off, while the inside builds up.

The other simple possibility is the sensor is failing, or the wiring has a loose connection. If the code starts to recur regularly then some test leads and a multimeter might find the culprit.

Typically on Deere if you switch to the on position and these codes are active on a cold engine, it is likely a wire or faulty sensor. Engine over heat will often bring this code first. Or the cooler is just stopped up .

Thanks for all the help, it turned out to be the sensor, it was reading 240 degrees F with the engine off.

There may be another problem with the Turbo not getting lubricated or is damaged internally. When we shut the equipment down it makes a noise that sounds like bearings grinding and there is smoke coming off of the turbo, not exhaust smoke, (you can tell by the smell and that it’s literally coming off of the turbo), but there are no trouble codes.

Try removing the air intake hose at the turbo and see if you can rattle the compressor wheel & shaft assembly. Also take a look inside for any signs that the compressor wheel has been rubbing on the housing. Any play in the turbo cartridge effectively means the complete unit is toast. Not sure if there are replacement cartridges for this machine but if the compressor wheel has been rubbing on the housing then a cartridge is not going to be the solution anyway .......
